The Motorola Moto G6 has a 3000 mAH Li-Ion Polymer battery that features fast-charging capabilities. The battery is used to power to device and all of its functions. If a battery is damaged, the device may have a short battery-life, or may even have be unable to turn on. If the device is experiencing these issues, a battery replacement may be required.

This guide will show you how to properly perform a battery replacement for this device. No prior experience is needed for this task. However, this process will require tools to open the device, as well as a Philip’s head screwdriver. A heat gun may also be helpful for opening the device. The specific device model in this guide is XT1925-12. Other model numbers include: XT1925-4, XT1925-5, XT1925-6, and XT1925DL.

Before beginning the repair, make sure the device is completely turned off and disconnected from an external power source. Gather the suggested tools listed below and a new Motorola Moto G6 battery.

    • Use the Jimmy to pry the battery from the device.

    • This step can be fairly difficult, and may require a Pressurized Air Duster in order to loosen the adhesive between the battery and the device.

    • Be careful not to puncture or excessively bend the battery while prying the device from the cover.
