This guide walks you through how to replace the internal CR1220 battery on your Canon PowerShot SX160 IS by removing the battery tray on your camera.

    • Use your finger or a spudger to gently pry the battery tray out of the camera.

    • Fully remove the battery tray from the camera.

    • Remove battery from tray and replace.

    These photos show the battery upside-down. The positive goes down, towards the plastic tray, while the negative goes up, towards the open top of the tray.

    Thanks, Tom! I first put the battery in the way the photo displayed, and then set the date. When I turned the camera off, then on again, I got the message the date and time needed to be set. Changing to your way solved my problem! Thanks so much!!
